Finance Business Analyst - R2R Process Improvement
Location: Hybrid – 1/2 days per week on-site (Birmingham area)
Rate: £550-550 per day (in IR35)
Duration: 3 months initial term, with potential to extend
Start Date: July 2025
Overview
We’re partnering with a leading organisation navigating a significant period of transformation, following a large-scale merger. As part of this change journey, they are seeking a hands-on Interim Finance Business Analyst to support process improvement within their shared services function, particularly around Record-to-Report (R2R) activity.
This is a high-impact role for a pragmatic, commercially aware Finance Business Analyst who can roll up their sleeves, engage stakeholders constructively, and help shape clearer accountabilities between shared services and business-facing finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a pragmatic review of current R2R processes delivered by the Shared Services Centre.
- Analyse and map current activities, responsibilities, and workflows – identifying where tasks sit today versus where they should sit under the target operating model.
- Engage with finance stakeholders across shared services and business partnering to understand current ‘ways of working’, challenge role creep, and clarify ownership.
- Make practical, actionable recommendations to improve process efficiency, clarity, and control – prioritising quick wins that are within the team’s gift to implement.
- Support the realignment of roles and responsibilities to help Shared Services focus on service delivery and free up Business Partners for more value-added work.
- Help embed process documentation and handovers where gaps exist.
- Where necessary, flag technology-related improvement opportunities for longer-term transformation initiatives.
Experience Needed
- Strong finance background – ideally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), or equivalent by experience.
- Proven experience working within or alongside shared services and/or finance business partnering environments in a large organisation.
- Hands-on exposure to R2R (Record-to-Report) processes and month-end accounting workflows.
- Demonstrable experience conducting process reviews, analysing role/responsibility alignment, and making pragmatic improvement recommendations.
- Track record of working through ambiguity and navigating organisational change with confidence.
- Comfortable balancing strategy with delivery – mapping out what needs to change and helping implement it where appropriate.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- A confident communicator who can challenge constructively and influence without authority.
- Emotionally intelligent and commercially aware – capable of having difficult conversations in a collaborative, non-disruptive way.
- Comfortable working in environments with organisational change, where priorities evolve.
- Able to travel to site once per week (Birmingham) to build relationships and drive buy-in.
- Systems exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a bonus, but not essential.
We invite applications from all qualified candidates who believe they meet the requirements of the role, whilst supporting and promoting equality and diversity to create an inclusive working environment for all.
