Job Description

Finance Assistant – Bristol

£29,000 + hybrid working + generous benefits

Core3 are delighted to be supporting a well-established, purpose-driven organisation in Bristol to recruit a Finance Assistant for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who’s passionate about building their finance career in a supportive, collaborative environment where people genuinely care about what they do.

Why join our client?

Our client is a respected, values-led organisation with a strong reputation for making a positive impact in the community. Their culture is friendly, inclusive and supportive — built on teamwork, trust and a shared sense of purpose.

You’ll join a small, close-knit finance team where your contribution will be valued, and you’ll gain exposure to all areas of day-to-day finance. They offer flexible, hybrid working (typically 2–3 days per week in their central Bristol office), and a range of benefits that support work-life balance, including 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, additional birthday and wellbeing days, and a full Christmas shutdown.

How you’ll make an impact

As Finance Assistant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of daily finance operations and supporting the delivery of accurate financial information. You’ll work closely with the Head of Finance to maintain strong financial controls and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining accurate cash books and ensuring all postings are up to date

  • Supporting the weekly payment run and processing supplier invoices and credit card transactions

  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations and assisting with accruals, prepayments and depreciation

  • Assisting with Gift Aid claims and VAT returns

  • Supporting management reporting and responding to queries from across the organisation

  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen internal controls

Why our client is excited about you

You’ll bring a positive, proactive approach and genuine enthusiasm for supporting a purpose-led organisation. With prior experience in a finance role, you’ll be confident working with numbers, maintaining accuracy and managing multiple priorities.

We’d love to see:

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Solid understanding of basic accounting processes

  • Good IT skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Excellent communication and teamwork

  • AAT qualification (or working towards it), or equivalent experience

What you’ll get in return

This organisation prides itself on looking after its people. The benefits for this Finance Assistant role in Bristol include:

  • £29,000 salary

  • 35-hour working week

  • 27 days holiday + bank holidays + birthday and wellbeing days

  • Christmas shutdown

  • Hybrid and flexible working

  • Matched pension contribution (up to 8%)

  • Supportive, values-driven culture

We invite applications from all qualified candidates who believe they meet the requirements of the role, while supporting and promoting equality and diversity to create an inclusive working environment for all.
