Job Description

Credit Controller | Salary Dependent on Experience | Remote | Permanent

Why join our client?

Our client is a purpose-led, growing organisation with a collaborative culture and a strong focus on people. They value trust, flexibility and clear communication. As a Credit Controller, you’ll join a supportive team that encourages curiosity, builds confidence and gives you room to progress. Whether you work fully remotely or choose the Bristol office on a hybrid basis, you’ll be part of a business that values balance and results.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Strengthen working capital performance across Bristol and London by managing debt and reducing lock-up.

  • Build trusted relationships with key client contacts to support timely recovery and agreed payment terms.

  • Review outstanding debt proactively and follow clear actions to drive resolution.

  • Provide partners with accurate debtor analysis to support decision-making and maintain agreed protocols.

  • Work closely with colleagues on reconciliations and ad hoc analysis to keep information accurate.

  • Identify problem debts early and follow escalation routes to maintain momentum on collections.

  • Meet monthly cash and ageing targets through consistent, focused account management.

  • Contribute to team and partner meetings by sharing updates and shaping joined-up working capital actions.

  • Support the credit team in reviewing internal processes and improving ways of working.

  • Use ARCS and other systems effectively to maintain accurate records and reporting.

Why our client is excited about you

You bring strong credit control expertise and you understand the pace, expectations and working practices of a legal environment. Prior experience in legal-sector credit control is essential and candidates without this will not be considered. You’re commercially aware, confident building relationships with senior stakeholders and motivated by improving processes and outcomes.

Essential

  • Proven credit control experience within a legal firm.

  • Confident managing varied collections and working with senior stakeholders.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret the bigger picture.

  • Clear, confident communication skills, written and verbal.

  • Organised and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Strong systems skills and comfortable using ARCS, Aderant or similar tools.

  • A positive, flexible approach and a commitment to collaborative working.

  • Commercial awareness and an interest in improving processes and outcomes.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting insurance-related client groups.

  • Understanding of SARs and wider financial controls environments.

What you’ll get in return

You’ll join a business that puts flexibility and trust at the heart of its culture. You can work fully remotely or choose a hybrid pattern in Bristol depending on what suits you best. You’ll find a supportive team, opportunities to develop your skills and the chance to make a meaningful difference to how the organisation manages its working capital.

A competitive salary and benefits package is offered, including pension, private healthcare, generous annual leave and ongoing learning opportunities.

We invite applications from all qualified candidates who believe they meet the requirements of the role, whilst supporting and promoting equality and diversity to create an inclusive working environment for all.
