Job Description
Head of Finance | Up to £100,000 + bonus | Central London (Hybrid) | Permanent
Ideally, we are looking for
A qualified, hands-on finance leader who enjoys operating as Number 2 to a CFO within a PE-backed, high-growth, buy-and-build environment. You will have experience leading a small team across the full finance function, with clear exposure to multi-site operations and post-acquisition finance integration. This role suits someone comfortable balancing pace, detail, and commercial decision-making.
Why join our client
We are supporting a PE-backed business in an exciting growth phase, executing a clear buy-and-build strategy within a multi-site model. With committed funding and an ambitious leadership team, the business is scaling rapidly and investing in building a robust, acquisition-ready finance function.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a broad, influential role as the CFO’s right hand, combining operational ownership with commercial and strategic exposure. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and well suited to someone who enjoys building rather than maintaining.
How you’ll make an impact
-
Lead and develop a finance team of 4–5, setting standards, priorities, and accountability
-
Own day-to-day finance operations including P&L, balance sheet, cashflow, and working capital
-
Deliver timely, accurate monthly management accounts with clear insight and commentary
-
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting processes across the group
-
Act as a finance partner to operational leaders, supporting performance and decision-making
-
Provide commercial analysis across sites, service lines, and acquisitions
-
Support pricing, margin analysis, and cost optimisation initiatives
-
Play a key role in acquisitions, including financial due diligence and integration planning
-
Lead post-acquisition finance integration, embedding group systems, controls, and reporting
-
Improve and scale finance systems and processes to support ongoing growth
Why you’re a great fit
Essential
-
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
-
Broad, hands-on finance leadership experience
-
Comfortable operating as a No.2 to the CFO with significant autonomy
-
Experience in PE-backed, high-growth, or acquisitive environments
-
Proven ability to lead a small team across the full finance function
-
Strong operational and commercial finance skillset
Desirable
-
Experience in a multi-site business
-
Exposure to post-acquisition finance integration
-
Background in buy-and-build models or rapid scale-up environments
What you’ll get in return
This role offers the chance to step into a senior, high-impact finance position within a well-funded growth story. You can expect:
-
Salary up to £100,000 plus bonus
-
Hybrid working in Central London
-
Broad remit and genuine influence as CFO’s right hand
-
Significant exposure to M&A and integration
-
Long-term progression aligned with business growth
Short notice periods are ideal, but as this is a permanent hire, the business will wait for the right person.
