A private equity backed fintech scale up operating in the B2B SaaS space. Must have fundraising and investor relationship experience ideally within Saas or Fintech.
The company is at a critical growth stage, balancing rapid commercial expansion with increasing investor scrutiny, disciplined cash management, and the need to mature its finance function without slowing momentum.
The Role
Interim VP of Finance
This is a senior interim leadership role with immediate impact. The Interim VP of Finance will take full ownership of the finance function, providing stability, clarity, and execution excellence during a period of change and external funding activity.
The role reports directly to the executive team and works closely with investors, acting as a trusted financial partner who can operate strategically while remaining deeply hands on.
Looking at 3-6 months, £140,000 to £160,000 equivalent on a day rate. London based 1 to 2 days in the office per week.
Key Objectives and Responsibilities
Financial Leadership and Control
• Take end to end ownership of the finance function, maintaining operational momentum throughout the interim period
• Ensure month end close, management reporting, and core FP&A processes run smoothly and reliably
• Maintain a robust control environment covering cash, reporting, and financial governance
• Identify and resolve issues quickly without over engineering or adding unnecessary complexity
Cashflow, Modelling, and Funding Support
• Own and continuously refine cashflow forecasting and working capital modelling
• Provide clear, credible financial visibility to the executive team and investors
• Support an upcoming funding process, including preparation of models, analysis, and investor materials
• Act as a steady, confident finance lead during investor diligence and financial scrutiny
Investor and Executive Engagement
• Partner closely with the CEO and leadership team as a pragmatic financial advisor
• Present grounded, transparent financial narratives to investors and stakeholders
• Balance ambition with realism, ensuring forecasts and plans are both defensible and actionable
Team Leadership
• Lead and support a small, capable finance team, providing calm, grounded interim leadership
• Build trust quickly through clarity, consistency, and delivery
• Create stability while enabling the team to operate effectively and independently
Working Style
This role suits a roll up your sleeves operator. Someone who is comfortable working independently, getting into the detail, and owning outcomes end to end. The successful interim will be practical, composed, and decisive, with a low ego approach and a strong sense of accountability.
Candidate Profile
Essential Experience
• Background in fintech, B2B SaaS, or closely related technology enabled financial services
• Experience in PE backed or investor backed scale up environments
• Broad finance capability across FP&A, reporting, cash management, and financial controls
• Hands on operator comfortable executing as well as leading
• Proven ability to maintain stability and momentum in fast paced, changing environments
• Availability to start in early January
Strongly Preferred
• Experience working directly with private equity or institutional investors
• Confident presenting financial performance, forecasts, and funding narratives
• Proven interim mindset with the ability to diagnose problems quickly and act decisively
• Track record of building trust fast and avoiding dependency or unnecessary process
