Senior Commercial Accountant
£70,000 to £85,000 + Bonus + Benefits

We’re partnering with a global energy business looking to appoint a Senior Commercial Accountant into a high performing finance team supporting a complex trading operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with experience in energy, commodities or another trading environment who enjoys combining technical accounting with commercial insight. You’ll work closely with finance, commercial and operational teams, playing a key role in financial reporting, business partnering and supporting new business activity.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the accounting for complex trading activities, including mark to market reporting and derivative accounting.
- Support monthly and year end reporting, providing analysis and commentary on financial performance.
- Act as the technical accounting lead, advising on IFRS and ensuring new commercial activity is structured and accounted for appropriately.
- Partner with commercial stakeholders to support new business opportunities and provide financial insight.
- Develop profitability reporting, KPIs and analysis to support strategic decision making.
- Take ownership of operational cost reporting and budgeting.
- Drive continuous improvements across finance processes, controls and reporting.
We’re looking for:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Experience within energy, commodities or another trading environment.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, particularly financial instruments and derivative accounting.
- Confident partnering with both finance and commercial stakeholders.
- Strong Excel skills, with exposure to ERP systems. Experience with Power BI, Python or VBA would be advantageous.
