Senior Management Accountant

Core3 is delighted to be working with an established organisation in Bristol to recruit a Senior Management Accountant.

This role is particularly well suited to a qualified accountant who is ready to take their first step into line management. You could already be working in industry, or you may be looking to make your first move from accountancy practice into a role where you can combine strong technical accounting with genuine people responsibility.

As Senior Management Accountant, you’ll take on your first formal line management responsibilities, coaching and developing accountants and assistant accountants while continuing to build your own technical and commercial experience.

Previous line management experience isn’t required. What matters is that you’re a qualified accountant with strong accounting fundamentals, the confidence to take greater ownership and a genuine interest in developing others.

For someone making their first move from practice, this is also an opportunity to take that technical grounding into industry while gaining management accounts, month-end and team leadership exposure.

How you’ll make an impact

• Coach and support accountants and assistant accountants, helping them develop their capability
• Take responsibility for team workloads and help ensure key deadlines are met
• Produce and review management accounts across your areas of responsibility
• Take ownership of key month-end close activities
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate unusual or outstanding items
• Resolve accounting queries and provide clear technical guidance to colleagues
• Maintain strong financial controls and consistent accounting standards
• Build effective relationships with finance and wider business stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to make accounting processes simpler and more efficient
• Develop your own leadership style while creating clear accountability across the team

Why you’re a great fit

You must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).

You could be an existing Management Accountant looking for progression, or a newly qualified accountant considering your first move from practice into industry.

You’ll have a strong technical accounting foundation, including experience of financial reporting, month-end or year-end accounting, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.

You do not need previous line management experience. We’re looking for someone who wants that responsibility and has the communication skills, judgement and approach to support and develop others.
